The subject is not really the point here. The main thing was practising the techniques that Brian Ryder teaches in his book and dvd. He put paint on, wipes it off, flings it at the canvas, rubs it round a bit – building up the layers and the textures.
All the same, I quite like the final image 🙂
I love O’Keeffe’s work, particularly the way she handled watercolours. There are a few of her paintings I have semi-copied, over and over, trying to gain an understanding of how she achieved the light in her paintings.

Okay, no, not really. The moon was a huge orange orb at the end of our garden tonight – so I spent some time playing round with the digital. This shot amused me 🙂

This comes from a watercolour which was loosely based on the aerial view of some fields in Italy.
