Crossings
I have been thinking recently about peace, peacefulness, and stillness of the spirit. Although I do not identify myself as Christian, the cross seems to be a powerful symbol for me nonetheless. This is one of three I have just completed, lots of texture and a bit of gold highlighting For sale on Etsy. -
GPP Crusade 17: Pandora’s Box
Michelle’s GPP Street Team challenge for February was to create a “Pandora’s Box”.Pandora’s Box? – a journaling kit or tote full of favorite tools and supplies to keep on hand for journaling without having to scratch around looking for stuff. For once I was onto it, and already had a kit that sits on my desk 24/7. (Okay, so why has it taken me till the 1st March to post about it? Heaven only knows!)
The kit – which is more a semi-contained pile of stuff – consists of:
Navy, pumpkin and gold ink pads
Brick and purple Walnut Ink
Gesso and gel medium
A small range of pencils – pastel, graphitint, charcoal, water soluble
Black, purple and bright yellow ink
Golden fluid acrylics – raw sienna, med yellow, cerulean blue, burnt orange, black and manila cream
A roll of paper towels
A large bottle of Diamond Glaze adhesive
A few spools of cotton
Bernina Aurora sewing machine
Red, navy, burgundy, yellow and light blue oil pastels
Roll of masking tapeAnd that’s it – same stuff, all the time. I find it works for me; there is some colour consistency across mediums, lots of options for texture and depth, plenty of mess, and the speed of items I am familiar with. Perfect…

Sea breeze
I have been flexing my abstraction muscles – and it sure felt good. Oils on 4×4″ deep edge canvas. Inspired by the view out to the Tasman Sea. -
Back to the landscape – again
Okay, so the fire is out. The remains are going to be sprayed with liquid plastic to stop the ashes flying. The government is being petitioned to help pay for a proper clean-up. Work is returning to normal – so it’s back to the landscape I go.This is another in a small series of 6×6″ acrylic abstracts based on views of the cliffs round Patea beach. They all use a similar colour palette but each one is based on a different vantage point or angle. A slice of the New Zealand landscape especially for you. For sale on Etsy. -
Start of a new series
Yahoo! I’m into the new year with a vengeance. I have started a small series of 6×6″ acrylic abstracts based on views of the cliffs round Patea beach. They all use a similar colour palette but each one is based on a different vantage point or angle. They’re for sale on Etsy here and on my website here.
