I’m no gardener, but I keep a very pretty one in my mind. Always vivid, cheerful, well-weeded and with clear blue skies. Lovely 🙂

Full-moon-itis. It’s a common disease, but not often diagnosed!!! You know the one — full moon comes round, you’re wide awake all night, and you just gotta do something. In my case, I paint… Here’s my latest full-moon-itis offering to the gods of wakefulness.4×8″ in quality acrylics on deep-edge stretched canvas. For sale at my Etsy shop.

Trying it on for size

A new style that is. Just cos I can!!
I like ‘art brut’ and admire the work of artists like Jesse Reno, but no matter what I do, I just can’t paint like them. I can only paint like me. But it doesn’t stop me playing at their style from time to time. Like this, weird colours, spikey figure, lots of energy. Still with none of the charm of Jesse’s work. Sigh…To check out the real deal go to http://www.blkmrktgallery.com — Jesse’s work is featured in this online gallery at present. I particularly like the one shown below, called ‘Without a Nest’. His work reminds me of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
By the way, it is obvious I am a lazy blogger playing catchup???

Practicing..

Much of my work leans towards abstraction, butI understand the value of being able to draw well. Of getting the bones right. And so in the evening I sit in the lounge with Mum and Tony and, while they watch tv, I sketch, and sketch, and sketch…Do I draw really well? No. But I am getting better year by year 🙂

Re-visiting and re-working

I have been going back to some older paintings I wasn’t sure I had finished. This one started off as an experiment with techniques.Pretty soon I could see a map appearing. Then I got thinking about global warming, ice melting and all that jazz.
So, I added some water flows away from the ‘island’, then some scattered city lights here and there (because I think our population distribution is going to change dramatically in the next 50 years) – and finally think it is done.
