Started with a collaged background, gesso through stencils, drippage, collaged gelli tissue paper, stencils direct onto the image, a bit of splatter. Brighter than my usual colours – must have been feeling extra happy! This might just be the sample for a new class I’m teaching 😉

Printing on tissue
I spent ages this morning printing on tissue paper so that I have a supply of papers ready for doing collage. When you stick it down with gel medium the tissue goes see through so you can layer images without the paper showing. Brilliant! All I needed was stencils, fluid acrylics, brayer, Gelli plate and tissue paper. Great fun.

Time out – Gelli Plate play
Today Tony was super tired and went back to bed about 11.30 (healing after two major surgeries is hard work). I decided to get out my Gelli Plate, some Golden Fluid Acrylics, stencils, old lace and some texture plates. Oh, and a random pile of paper. Hours later, here’s just a few of the papers I now have tucked away for card making, collaging, art journaling and other fun stuff. And there’s a wee supply on it’s way to an arty/crafty friend!

New stencils – oh my!
I was fortunate to be able to purchase some new Michelle Ward stencils recently. I had been thinking about the Frond Collection ever since Michele released them, and I was finally able to get them. And boy, they were worth the wait … I love them. I’ve just been playing round with them using gesso, inks, fluid acrylics, and working in three different journals to see what happens on the various surfaces. Here’s some of what I’ve done so far.

Back to my art journal
I haven’t used my art journal as much as usual lately, mainly because I had been busy preparing for conference, completing my LIANZA professional re-registration journal, and studying in the HyperLinked Library MOOC out of San Jose University. Conference is over, my journal has been submitted and I can catch up on the MOOC readings easily enough so today I got inky. Bliss…
I have joined the Stencil Girl stencil club and received my first stencils a few days ago – love ’em! As you can see from the pages I’ve done, some are inspired by what I learnt at conference, while others are the idle meanderings of an arting mind. For these pages I used stencils, Golden Fluid acrylics, Tim Holtz Distress Pads, an assortment of pens, glue and a ceramic cutter pen.
