I had a “Mum” night – no art to speak of, just sticking plasters and sympathy!

33_365 : the A&E waltz
Well, no art yesterday, and not even a photo sorted to post…
As soon as I finished work I had to take Mum to the Emergency Dept at the hospital, 1/2 an hour away. We didn’t get home till well after 9pm and then I had to feed us all and get Mum settled for the night.
All is well though. They did blood tests etc and she’s okay. I had made some changes to her medication on Thursday and Friday cos we were having problems, and our Doctor wasn’t available. The A&E Doctor agrees with the changes I made – as we said, after 8 years of nursing Mum I have a reasonable understanding of how much of it works 🙂
So, back into the art today with a vengeance!!

26_365 : Oops!! Life happened…
Well, yesterday was day 26 of my 365 day challenge. I got into bed and thought “oops, I didn’t do any art or post any art”!!
What happened? Well, Mum has been in the Base Hospital (1.5 hours away) for almost a fortnight and getting better very slowly. All of a sudden yesterday they decided to discharge her. Luckily my sister was up there and did most of the running round. But by the time Mum got home at about 6pm, we fed her, settled her, re-did her medication trays, got her ready for bed etc – the days was gone, gone, gone.
So – no excuse, but a good reason. I’m pleased to have her home again, even though last night was a “up four times to her” night. I know why new mum’s are so accident-prone, disturbed sleep can be a terrible thing.

15_365 : can’t resist one more!

Today was a test – the puppy had to go to the vet. I took Mum for a semi-routine cardiac appointment at the hospital. The cardiac nurse went “omg” and sent her to the emergency dept. They went “omg” and transferred her by ambulance to Base Hospital 1 1/2 hours away. Then she spent over 5 hours in the emergency dept before being sent to the ward. She’s exhuasted and so am I.But the commitment remains unbroken – even if it is another scrapbook page to relax with.

Looking forward to 2007
Okay, so I have been a bad, bad blogger. Mum’s health dramas have got in the way something shocking. She’s on the mend again however.
But no more excuses: enough already!! What follows is the promise I made to an art group I belong to. Here’s the promise, now hold me to it… LOLHave a great 2007 everyone.
I’ve been reading what artists say happens when they make a firm commitment to doing a piece of work a day. It changes things in all kinds of ways. I don’t normally do any new year resolutions but this time I am. You guys are my witnesses and can slap me senseless if I start making excuses 🙂I WILL make 1 piece of art a day, every day, for all of 2007.
Conditions: can be a painting, collage or whatever.
must be between 4×4″ and 8×8″
must be put on my website each day
no excuses accepted
