I really enjoy the sunsets we get here, looking out across the golf course to the Tasman Sea. This is a small work, just 4×8″, in acrylics on stretched deep edge canvas.

In my case, I paint… Here’s my latest full-moon-itis offering to the gods of wakefulness.4×8″ in quality acrylics on deep-edge stretched canvas. For sale at my Etsy shop.

Windfarm worries

In the last week an energy company has announced plans to build a 45 turbine wind farm along the coastline near my home town. They’ll be 150m high and visible for 25km. In NZ terms that’s a huge area – encompassing two towns and a number of smaller villages. It’s fine in theory – but – they are only viable for 25 years, they are noisy, they have a huge impact on the visible landscape. I’m not sure I think this is the best option for extra power generation.
This painting is a direct result of that worry; in the centre, under the hills, is the word WIND. 8×12″ in acrylics on primed canvas paper.

Trying it on for size

A new style that is. Just cos I can!!
I like ‘art brut’ and admire the work of artists like Jesse Reno, but no matter what I do, I just can’t paint like them. I can only paint like me. But it doesn’t stop me playing at their style from time to time. Like this, weird colours, spikey figure, lots of energy. Still with none of the charm of Jesse’s work. Sigh…To check out the real deal go to http://www.blkmrktgallery.com — Jesse’s work is featured in this online gallery at present. I particularly like the one shown below, called ‘Without a Nest’. His work reminds me of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
By the way, it is obvious I am a lazy blogger playing catchup???
